A proposal has recently popped up in the Senate to consider how the FAA should be funded. Certain issues in this proposal include the possibility of a drastically increased aviation fuel tax, and mandatory fees for any aircraft flying in Class Bravo airspace. Flight training is expensive enough, often prohibitively expensive. With the industry facing some very serious staffing and recruiting problems for the next several years (an industry, might I add, which is very important to the economy as a whole), how can oblivious Congressmen(women) possibly justify increasing training and operation costs? This would serve only to extend the pilot shortage while beggaring student pilots even further. I'd suggest writing your Congressman, but I doubt they could read due to the poor lighting conditions of their rectums. However, organizations like AOPA are lobbying to help defeat nonsensical proposals like this. Help out by donating if able.
